The Marathon Group Honored With Awards for Advertising Excellence

Laurel, NJ, May 12, 2009 – The Marathon Group, a full service
marketing, communications and advertising agency in Mt. Laurel,
took home several honors in the 2009 Aster Awards Program for excellence
in medical marketing. This comes on the heels of several awards
from the 26th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards sponsored by
Healthcare Marketing Report.
The Marathon Group received a total of two gold, three silver
and one bronze award in this year’s Aster competition, one of the
largest competitions of its kind, hosted by Marketing Healthcare
Today and Creative Images, Inc. This elite national program recognizes
excellence in health care advertising and marketing efforts.
Led by creative director Ken Gleason, senior art director T.A.
Hahn and designer Corrie Bradwell, The Marathon Group earned gold
awards for Single Newspaper Ad and Special Events for the Clara
Maass Medical Center Lifeline Challenge, a bike race to raise funds
for the fight against prostate cancer. It also won silver awards
for Billboard design and Poster design for the Lifeline Challenge.
Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s Maternity Campaign earned The Marathon
Group a silver award for Service Line Promotion – Women’s Services,
and the bronze award was earned for Community Medical Center’s
radio spot promoting its Pediatric Emergency Department.
The 2009 Aster Awards consisted of approximately 3,000 entries
from across the United States. Judging criteria included creativity,
layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production
quality and overall appeal.
The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the largest competition of
its kind, and well respected in the healthcare industry. A national
panel of judges was engaged in reviewing all 3,600 entries.
The Marathon Group won a gold award in the Special Event category
for Clara Maass’ Lifeline Challenge, and a bronze award for Logo/Letterhead
design for the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation.
The firm also received five merit awards: Poster for the Lifeline
Challenge; Radio Advertising for Community’s Pediatric Emergency
Department; Single Magazine Ad for Saint Barnabas Health Care System’s
“Seton Hall” ad; Radio Advertising for Saint Barnabas Health Care
System’s “Pirate” spot; and Newspaper Ad Series for Saint Barnabas
Medical Center’s Maternity campaign.
